THE BLOCK — TRANSACTION & TRADING RULES
Draft 3 — Beta / Early Access
Effective Date: September 23, 2026 Last Updated: September 23, 2026 Platform: on-the-block.com Contact: support@on-the-block.com
These Transaction & Trading Rules (“Trading Rules”) apply to card sales, purchases, offers, trades, negotiations, and deal workflows conducted through The Block, including The Haggle & Handshake (“The H&H”).
These Trading Rules supplement and are incorporated into The Block Terms of Service.
1. The Block's Role
The Block provides technology allowing collectors to display cards, discover cards, negotiate, document transaction terms, exchange fulfillment information, track transaction progress, and maintain Platform card records.
Unless a particular service expressly says otherwise, The Block is not the buyer or seller and does not act as an authenticator, grading company, appraiser, broker, dealer, fiduciary, escrow provider, insurer, shipping carrier, or guarantor.
2. User Responsibility
Each user is responsible for deciding:
- whether to transact;
- with whom to transact;
- whether a card is acceptable;
- whether transaction terms are acceptable;
- which payment method to use;
- how to package and ship;
- and whether additional protection such as insurance or signature confirmation is appropriate.
3. One Card, One Digital Record
The Block is designed around the principle:
ONE PHYSICAL CARD = ONE DIGITAL CARD RECORD.
A card record may appear on The Shelf, The Shop, The Show, The H&H, or other Platform areas without creating a new underlying card record.
The digital record does not independently prove physical possession, legal ownership, title, authenticity, condition, or provenance.
4. Right to Sell or Trade
You may offer a card only if you have the lawful right and authority to sell or trade it.
You may not knowingly offer stolen property, counterfeit property, or property you are not authorized to transfer.
5. Card Photos and Descriptions
Users should provide photographs that reasonably represent the actual card being offered.
Users must not knowingly use misleading photographs or materially inaccurate descriptions.
Known material alterations or defects that could reasonably affect another collector's decision should be disclosed.
This may include material damage, alterations, holder damage, or other significant condition issues known to the listing user.
6. Graded Cards
A card being encapsulated or graded by a third-party grading company does not create a guarantee by The Block regarding:
- authenticity;
- grade;
- holder integrity;
- certification status;
- or value.
Users remain responsible for evaluating graded cards before transacting.
7. AI Card Identification
AI-assisted intake is an organizational tool.
AI-generated information may be inaccurate.
The submitting user is responsible for reviewing and correcting information before using it in a listing or transaction.
AI output is not authentication, grading, certification, or appraisal.
8. The Haggle — Negotiations
Users may exchange:
- cash offers;
- trade proposals;
- cash-plus-trade proposals;
- counteroffers;
- messages;
- and other transaction terms.
Negotiations occurring before both users confirm the applicable transaction terms remain subject to change or withdrawal through the Platform.
Users may not use negotiations to harass, threaten, deceive, or pressure another user into unsafe conduct.
9. The Handshake
The Handshake occurs when the Platform records both participants' confirmation of the displayed transaction terms.
The Handshake creates a Platform record of what the users confirmed.
Whether that confirmation creates a legally enforceable contract is determined by applicable law and the circumstances.
The Block does not guarantee either party's performance.
10. Transaction Records
The Block may maintain records relating to transactions, including:
- participating users;
- cards involved;
- offer and counteroffer history;
- cash components;
- messages;
- confirmed terms;
- shipping information;
- tracking information;
- receipt confirmations;
- problem reports;
- cancellations;
- completion status;
- and applicable timestamps.
These records may be used to operate the Platform, maintain transaction history, prevent fraud, enforce Platform rules, provide support, or comply with law.
11. Payment Between Users
Unless a specific Platform service expressly provides otherwise, payment for cards is made directly between users.
Users are responsible for selecting their payment method and understanding its rules, fees, buyer/seller protections, reversal policies, and fraud risks.
A seller should independently verify payment status before shipping.
The Block does not guarantee a peer-to-peer payment or protect users from reversals or chargebacks imposed by an outside payment provider.
12. The Block Platform Fees
The Block may separately charge fees for memberships, auctions, premium functionality, or other Platform services.
Such fees are separate from the purchase price users pay each other for cards unless expressly disclosed otherwise.
Applicable Platform fees will be disclosed before the user incurs them.
13. Trades
Trades may involve one or more cards on either side and may include an agreed cash component.
Each participant is responsible for evaluating the transaction.
The Block does not guarantee that traded cards have equal monetary value.
14. Shipping
The shipping party is responsible for selecting appropriate packaging and shipping methods.
Users should package cards in a manner reasonably designed to protect them during transit.
The Block may provide shipping recommendations, carrier links, or other convenience features, but those recommendations do not make The Block responsible for the shipment.
Users should consider tracking, insurance, and signature confirmation when appropriate to the value and risk of the transaction.
15. Tracking
Users may enter tracking information into The H&H.
Tracking information must not knowingly be false, fabricated, recycled, or misleading.
Carrier status information is supplied by third parties and may contain delays or errors.
A carrier's “delivered” status does not conclusively resolve every transaction dispute.
16. Receipt and Inspection
Recipients should reasonably inspect cards before confirming satisfactory receipt.
If there is a material problem, the user should use the available Platform reporting functionality before confirming successful completion when reasonably possible.
Examples may include:
- the wrong card;
- significant undisclosed damage;
- suspected counterfeit merchandise;
- materially different condition;
- missing items;
- or a shipment marked delivered but not received.
17. Digital Card Transfer
When the Platform completes a transaction according to its current workflow, the applicable digital card record may be transferred to the recipient's Shelf.
That transfer reflects The Block's Platform record.
It is not an independent legal determination concerning title, authenticity, or physical possession.
Private cost-basis information belonging to the previous owner is not transferred as the new owner's private cost information.
18. Cancellations
Transactions may be cancelled where permitted by the Platform workflow or mutually agreed by the users.
A failure to complete a transaction does not automatically establish fraud or misconduct.
However, conduct such as accepting payment and intentionally refusing to ship, knowingly refusing to perform after the counterparty has materially performed, or repeatedly abusing transaction workflows may result in Platform enforcement.
19. Transaction Problems and Disputes
Users should report material transaction problems through available Platform tools.
The Block may review:
- H&H communications;
- confirmed terms;
- tracking;
- transaction records;
- reports;
- and other available Platform information.
Such review is for Platform administration, fraud prevention, safety, support, and enforcement.
The Block is not a court, arbitrator, insurer, shipping carrier, authenticator, or payment-dispute service.
20. Vouches
Each qualifying successfully completed transaction may generate one Vouch for each participating user.
A Vouch represents completed Platform transaction history.
It does not represent a subjective review.
Cancelled, incomplete, fraudulent, fictitious, or otherwise nonqualifying transactions do not earn a Vouch.
A Vouch may be reversed or excluded where the underlying transaction is determined to have been fraudulent, manipulated, invalid, or otherwise nonqualifying.
A Vouch is not an endorsement, certification, identity verification, background check, authentication, warranty, or guarantee of future conduct.
21. Vouch Levels
The current Vouch levels are:
0–4 Vouches: Count displayed; no named status 5+ Vouches: PROSPECT 10+ Vouches: STARTER 20+ Vouches: ALL-STAR 50+ Vouches: MVP 100+ Vouches: HALL OF FAME 500+ Vouches: GOAT
Levels are Platform reputation indicators based on qualifying transaction counts.
They do not guarantee trustworthiness or future performance.
22. Vouch and Reputation Manipulation
Users may not:
- create fake transactions to obtain Vouches;
- transact with themselves through alternate accounts;
- buy or sell Vouches;
- coordinate Vouch manipulation;
- manipulate reputation metrics;
- or otherwise falsify transaction history.
The Block may remove invalid Vouches and restrict or terminate accounts involved in manipulation.
23. User Safety
Users should evaluate counterparties and transaction circumstances themselves.
A profile, Vouch count, badge, follower count, account age, card history, or other Platform indicator should not be treated as proof that a user is trustworthy.
Users should be cautious about requests to deviate from confirmed transaction terms or use payment/shipping methods they do not understand.
24. Prohibited Transaction Activity
Users may not knowingly engage in:
- counterfeit-card sales;
- sale of stolen property;
- forged-autograph sales;
- undisclosed material card alteration;
- intentional material misrepresentation;
- payment fraud;
- false payment disputes;
- false shipping claims;
- fake or misleading tracking;
- Vouch manipulation;
- fake transactions;
- shill bidding;
- auction manipulation;
- multi-account fraud;
- impersonation;
- fee evasion;
- or other fraudulent or unlawful transaction activity.
25. Platform Enforcement
Violations may result in appropriate Platform action, which can include:
- warnings;
- removal of listings;
- cancellation or restriction of Platform functionality;
- transaction restrictions;
- removal of invalid reputation information;
- suspension;
- or termination.
The Block may consider the circumstances and available evidence when determining appropriate Platform action.
26. No Guarantee of User Identity
The Block may use account and security systems but does not guarantee that every user is who they claim to be.
Unless a specific verification feature expressly states otherwise, a profile is not identity certification by The Block.
27. Card Values and Comparable Sales
Any pricing information, comparable-sale data, market information, AI output, popularity information, or other value-related information provided through The Block is informational.
It is not an appraisal, valuation guarantee, investment recommendation, or promise concerning future sale price.
28. Third-Party Services
Users may interact with external payment providers, shipping carriers, marketplaces, grading companies, social platforms, or other third-party services.
The Block does not control those services.
Their separate terms, fees, protections, policies, and privacy practices apply.
29. Data and Record Retention
The Block may retain transaction records, card-history information, dispute records, and other information as reasonably necessary for:
- Platform integrity;
- fraud prevention;
- security;
- dispute documentation;
- enforcement;
- legal compliance;
- and protection of users and the Platform.
Account deletion does not necessarily erase every historical transaction record.
Retention is further described in the Privacy Policy.
30. Changes to These Rules
These Trading Rules may be updated as Platform functionality changes.
Material changes may be accompanied by additional notice or renewed acceptance where appropriate or legally required.
Future features such as auctions may have separate supplemental rules.
31. Conflict With Terms
If these Trading Rules conflict with the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service control unless a supplemental agreement expressly states otherwise for a particular feature.
